Odisha BDO Suspended for Skipping Key Electoral Training

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has suspended Banaja Das, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Badasahi and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), for serious lapses in duty during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to the suspension order, Das failed to attend mandatory virtual training sessions for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs on May 23, 2026.

She also skipped crucial training for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO supervisors on May 26 and 27.

Despite repeated instructions, she neither complied with directives nor responded to a show‑cause notice.

The CEO noted that Das had taken casual leave without proper intimation during critical training periods, reflecting gross negligence and disregard for official responsibilities.

The District Election Officer (DEO) and Collector of Mayurbhanj have been directed to implement the suspension order immediately.

This action underscores the Election Commission’s strict stance on accountability and preparedness in the electoral process.
