Odisha and Japan’s Tottori Prefecture Forge Long-Term Cooperation

Odisha has taken a significant step toward strengthening international ties with Japan’s Tottori Prefecture.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg met a 13-member Japanese delegation led by Chief Secretary Toshiaki Endo to explore collaboration in investment, industry, skill development, education, tourism, and culture.

Garg highlighted Odisha’s rich commercial tradition and Buddhist heritage, urging Japanese companies to invest in green energy, advanced technology, fisheries, and skill development.

Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma emphasised Odisha’s industrial growth, mineral resources, and investor-friendly policies, noting the synergy between Japan’s technological expertise and Odisha’s resource base.

Both sides proposed a Friendship Agreement to promote SMEs, student exchanges, educational cooperation, and tourism collaboration.

The Governor of Tottori Prefecture is scheduled to visit Odisha in November, further cementing ties.

The Japanese delegation will also tour Bhubaneswar’s World Skill Development Centre and key tourist destinations during their three-day visit.

This partnership aims to create a roadmap for long-term cooperation, blending cultural exchange with economic growth.
