NCDS Board Charts Roadmap to Global Excellence

Bhubaneswar: The 36th Board of Governors meeting of the Nabakrushna Choudhury Centre for Development Studies (NCDS) has set an ambitious vision to transform the institute into a globally recognised centre of excellence.

Chaired by Development Commissioner‑cum‑Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, the meeting emphasised strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing research quality, and expanding collaborations with national and international institutions.

Director Prakash Chandra Mohanty and eminent members from academia and government highlighted the need for interdisciplinary, policy‑oriented research in areas such as social inclusion, gender equity, livelihood enhancement, and sustainable development.

The Board acknowledged Odisha’s growing investments in higher education and innovation, positioning the state as an emerging hub of academic excellence.

Singh underscored the importance of collaboration between academia, government, and civil society to address socio‑economic challenges.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to elevate NCDS as a premier institution for advanced research, policy engagement, and capacity building at both national and global levels.
