Nayagarh: Six Injured in Firecracker Explosion Ahead of Lankapodi Festival
A tragic incident unfolded in Korada village under Nuagaon police limits, Nayagarh district, when an explosion occurred during firecracker preparation for the upcoming Lankapodi festival and Ram Navami celebrations.
Six individuals, including a woman and a minor, sustained severe burn injuries.
The child reportedly suffered 90% burns, while two others sustained around 80% burns. Three more victims were also critically injured.
Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest mishandling of explosive materials during the packing process.
Authorities are probing whether the firecrackers were being manufactured legally and if safety norms were ignored.
The incident has once again raised concerns about unregulated firecracker production and the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety standards during festive preparations in Odisha.
