Nayagarh Burglary: Elderly Man Attacked, Gold and Cash Looted
Nayagarh: A wave of fear has gripped Khamaresahi village under Nayagarh Town Police limits after burglars targeted two homes in the early hours of Thursday.
At the residence of Karaj Swain, intruders smashed the back door and fled with gold, silver ornaments, and Rs 2 lakh in cash.
In a separate strike, burglars broke into Bharat Mahanti’s house, locking his daughter-in-law inside a room before looting Rs 50,000, gold earrings, and silver items.
The crime turned violent when Mahanti, asleep at the time, was attacked with a sharp weapon.
He was rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Residents expressed alarm over the rising theft cases in the area, accusing police of failing to nab culprits despite repeated incidents. The Town Police have launched an investigation, but locals remain anxious about their safety.
