Nabarangpur SI Suspended After Alleged Overnight Misconduct With Woman at Police Outpost
Nabarangpur: The Superintendent of Police (SP), Nabarangpur, has suspended the in-charge Sub-Inspector (SI) of Singisari Police Outpost following allegations of misconduct involving a woman inside the police outpost quarters.
The action was taken after reports emerged that the officer, identified as Durga Prasad Brahma, allegedly spent the night with a woman inside a locked room at the outpost premises.
The incident reportedly came to light after local residents and villagers received information about the matter and gathered at the location.
According to reports, villagers allegedly locked the quarters from outside and remained at the spot overnight.
The incident quickly drew public attention and spread across local media and social media platforms.
On Wednesday morning, the room was opened in the presence of local representatives and villagers.
Witnesses reportedly saw the SI leave the room, followed by the woman. She later departed the area in a vehicle heading towards Umerkote via Rajpur.
Following the allegations and public outcry, Nabarangpur SP Partha Jagdish Kashyap ordered the suspension of the officer and attached him to the district headquarters pending further inquiry.
The accused officer is reported to have denied the allegations.
However, the district police administration has initiated an investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.
