Nabarangpur Police Foil Child Trafficking Bid, Rescue Three Minors

Umerkote police in Nabarangpur district successfully foiled a child trafficking attempt on May 21, 2026, rescuing three minor girls and arresting two accused traffickers.

Acting on a tip‑off, a team led by ASI P.L. Sunani intercepted a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga near Siunaguda Square during naka checking.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Tulashiram Panaka (23) of Ekamba village under Dabugaon police limits and M. Suresh (43) of Erode district, Tamil Nadu.

Police seized two Android mobile phones and the vehicle used in the crime.

The minors were immediately taken for medical examination and later handed over to their guardians.

A case has been registered under Umerkote PS Case No. 156 dated 21.05.2026, invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the ISMW Act, 1979.

Authorities are investigating possible links to wider trafficking networks, while the swift police action has been praised as a crucial step in safeguarding vulnerable children.
