Jagatsinghpur Youth Missing in Devi River, Search Operations Continue

Jagatsinghpur: A tense situation unfolded near Machhagaon in Jagatsinghpur district after a youth went missing in the Devi River on Thursday.

The missing youth, identified as Sangram Parida of Sukida village, was swept away by strong currents while fishing with friends.

According to eyewitnesses, Sangram and four companions had entered the river when three of them lost balance.

While locals managed to rescue two, Sangram was carried away by the current.

Fire services personnel, local residents, and fishermen immediately launched a search operation. Despite hours of combing the river, Sangram remained untraced till late evening.

Family members and villagers gathered anxiously at the riverbank, awaiting updates. Officials confirmed that search operations will continue until the youth is found.

The incident has raised concerns about safety along riverbanks, especially during the monsoon season when currents are unpredictable.
