Minister Patra: Petrol, Diesel Stocks Secure for 13 Days

Bhubaneswar, May 15: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra assured citizens that petrol and diesel stocks remain sufficient for the next 13 days, despite panic buying triggered by fears of disruption linked to the Strait of Hormuz.

Long queues formed at fuel stations after sales surged nearly 50% in two days, partly due to misinterpretation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce fuel consumption.

The minister urged people not to hoard fuel in containers and directed officials to conduct raids against black marketing.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) confirmed that district‑wise monitoring and replenishment are ongoing, with each district holding 3–4 days of supply.

Priority will be given to public transport services to ensure continuity.

Patra emphasised that there is no actual shortage of fuel in Odisha, and the government is taking steps to stabilise supply and prevent exploitation by unscrupulous traders.
