Majhi Hits Out at Congress Over Vande Mataram Row

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has sharply criticised the Congress Working Committee’s decision to restrict the singing of Vande Mataram to only two stanzas.

Calling the move “deeply disappointing,” Majhi asserted that the national song is not a political bargaining chip but the soul of India’s freedom struggle.

He emphasised that Vande Mataram inspired countless freedom fighters and remains a symbol of national pride.

Majhi accused Congress of diluting the song for vote‑bank politics and warned against repeating such practices.

He concluded that Vande Mataram will always remain the “voice of Bharat,” transcending party lines and political convenience.

The remarks come amid a wider political row, with BJP leaders nationwide criticising Congress for limiting the song’s recital.
