Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal Likely by August 13; Heavy Rain Forecast for Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the development of a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal, extending up to 3.1 km above sea level.

Under its influence, a low‑pressure area is expected to form by August 13, bringing widespread rainfall across Odisha.

Several districts—including Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Cuttack, Khordha, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Angul, Debagarh, and Sundargarh—are likely to experience light to heavy showers.

Authorities have advised residents in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas to remain alert as water levels in rivers may rise.
