Lord Jagannath’s Ubha Yatra Marks Divine Reunion Ahead of Rath Yatra
Puri witnessed the sacred Ubha Yatra of Lord Jagannath today, coinciding with Pratipada Tithi.
Devotees experienced the Nabajouban Darshan, symbolising the Lord’s rejuvenated appearance after the Anavasara rituals.
The day began with morning rites, followed by Gopal Ballav and incense offerings.
Priests carried out the Ajnamala ritual, presenting the Lord’s garland with ceremonial music.
The chariot procession unfolded in sequence:
- Nandighosa (Jagannath’s chariot) was pulled first from Ratha Khala to Singhadwara.
- Darpadalana (Subhadra’s chariot) followed.
- Taladhwaja (Balabhadra’s chariot) completed the procession.
Public darshan at Srimandir was restricted today as preparations intensify for Sri Gundicha Yatra tomorrow.
Evening rituals include Sri Mukha Khandua, Dahuka songs, and Senapata rites.
Meanwhile, the Puri administration has rolled out strict traffic and safety measures:
- 30 parking zones, including 6 new additions this year.
- Deployment of 244 CCTV cameras and 3 drones for surveillance.
- Roads connecting Bada Danda and Srimandir have been declared No Vehicle Zones to ensure smooth movement during Rath Yatra.
