IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Rain and Lightning in 11 Odisha Districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for rain, thunderstorms, and lightning across 11 districts of Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, and Nayagarh districts.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open spaces, and remain alert to updates from local authorities.
The weather activity is linked to a low‑pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, which is intensifying monsoon conditions across the state.
Widespread rainfall is likely in the coming days, with authorities closely monitoring the situation.
