Lingaraj Temple Committee Submits Second Interim Report to Odisha Law Minister
Bhubaneswar, April 27: The Lingaraj Temple Satwalipi Committee has submitted its second interim report to Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan in Bhubaneswar.
The committee, chaired by Justice Dr Durga Prasanna Choudhury with Professor Prafulla Kumar Mishra as a member, presented 16 key recommendations aimed at strengthening temple management and preserving sanctity.
The proposals include structured rituals, renovation of the sanctum and temple kitchen, installation of modern lighting systems, specialised training for sevayats, appointment of a dedicated officer for temple affairs, streamlined hundi operations, resolution of land disputes, and enhanced welfare schemes for sevayats.
Minister Harichandan assured a comprehensive review of the recommendations, emphasising the government’s commitment to creating the best arrangements for sevayats, employees, and devotees while safeguarding the spiritual heritage of the temple.
Senior officials, including Dr Pavitra Mohan Samal (Principal Secretary, Law Department) and Shiv Prasad Mahapatra (Additional Secretary), attended the submission ceremony.
