Keonjhar Farmer Killed, Two Injured in Lightning Strike During Rainfall
Keonjhar district witnessed a tragic incident on August 3 when a lightning strike claimed the life of a farmer and left two others critically injured.
The incident occurred in the Ghasipura area during sudden afternoon rainfall.
According to reports, Ramakant Behera (52) of Khalana village was working in his paddy field when lightning struck, killing him instantly.
Two others — Bhagaban Raut (45) of Khalana and Ankita Patra (30) of Bamphidi village — sustained severe injuries.
Both injured victims were initially rushed to local health centres before being shifted to Anandapur Sub‑Divisional Hospital for advanced treatment.
This tragedy is part of a series of lightning strikes reported across Odisha on the same day, which have caused multiple casualties, highlighting the recurring dangers during the monsoon season.
