Kendrapada to Host Odisha’s First Shipbuilding Factory
Odisha is set to enter a new industrial era with the establishment of its first shipbuilding factory in Kendrapada.
Announced by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, the ₹24,700‑crore project will be developed in partnership with the Paradip Port Authority.
The shipbuilding cluster is expected to generate thousands of jobs, particularly benefiting local youth, and strengthen Odisha’s position as a hub for maritime manufacturing and global trade.
Survey work has already begun in Badatubi, Sanatubi, and Nipania villages to prepare land and infrastructure for the project.
Officials describe the initiative as a flagship step toward diversifying Odisha’s industrial base and boosting regional economic growth.
