Jharsuguda Police Bust Illicit Liquor Network, Nine Arrested

Jharsuguda Police carried out a major raid on May 29 in Mohanpur and Ujalpur villages under Belpahar police station limits, seizing large quantities of illicit liquor and raw materials.

The joint operation involved Belpahar PS, Lakhanpur PS, Brajrajnagar Police, armed forces, and was supervised by the Executive Magistrate.

Authorities confiscated 722 litres of Mahua liquor, 47 quintals of Mahua flower, 10 kg of urea, and other brewing materials.

Additionally, 12 quintals of fermented Mahua pocha were destroyed on the spot.

Nine individuals were arrested, and nine excise cases were registered under the Odisha Excise Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are also verifying the criminal backgrounds of the accused.

Jharsuguda Police reiterated their commitment to strict action against illegal liquor manufacturing and trafficking, emphasising the need to safeguard public health and maintain law and order.
