Jagatsinghpur Principal Arrested Over Harassment Allegations
Jagatsinghpur district witnessed a major development after Swami Arupananda Degree College principal, Dayanidhi Routray, was arrested following serious allegations of sexual harassment and workplace misconduct.
Several women faculty members and staff accused Routray of making obscene remarks and engaging in inappropriate behaviour.
The victims lodged a formal complaint with police on July 11 and also submitted a memorandum to the Jagatsinghpur Sub‑Collector, demanding strict action.
Acting on the complaints, the district administration suspended Routray pending inquiry.
Police have begun recording statements from complainants and witnesses, while Routray was produced before a local court.
Further legal action will depend on the investigation’s findings.
This incident has sparked widespread concern about workplace safety and accountability in educational institutions across Odisha.
