Jagannath Temple Panel Finalizes Rath Yatra Preparations, To Raise Unauthorized Yatra Issue with PM Modi
Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, has finalised preparations for the upcoming Rath Yatra.
The panel approved the ritual schedule from Rajendra Abhishek to Niladri Bije and reviewed arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual festival.
The committee expressed strong displeasure over unauthorised “Adinaya Rath Yatras” organised by ISKCON and other groups.
It resolved to send a delegation to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Niladri Bije, urging a ban on parallel events that undermine the sanctity of the festival.
Meanwhile, the panel approved new locks for the outer Ratna Bhandar, shifting of old almirahs, and construction of a new information centre and reception complex near Narendra Pushkarini.
Discussions also covered temple land issues, amendments to the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, and progress on the Gurukul project for servitors.
The committee warned that if OBCC fails to complete the Gurukul project on time, it will be handed to another agency.
With enhanced security arrangements, the temple administration expressed confidence that all rituals from Snana Yatra to Niladri Bije will proceed smoothly.
