Odisha Vigilance Arrests Bhadrak DEO Staffer for Bribe

Bhadrak: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Srikanta Kumar Dash, a Junior Assistant at the Bhadrak District Education Office, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The bribe was sought to process a recognition certificate for a private school.

Acting on a complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Dash red‑handed while accepting the money. The full bribe amount was recovered from his possession and seized as evidence.

Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at two of Dash’s linked premises to detect possible disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered at Balasore Vigilance Police Station under Case No. 09 dated 04.06.2026, invoking Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of his involvement and financial irregularities.
