HUD Minister Reviews Puri’s Water Readiness for Rath Yatra

Puri, Odisha: Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra reviewed drinking water arrangements in Puri ahead of the annual Rath Yatra.

During his inspection of the 42 MLD Water Treatment Plant, he directed officials to accelerate work while ensuring quality standards.

WATCO officials briefed him on special measures for uninterrupted supply, noting the surge in population during the festival.

The Minister inspected clarifiers, filtration units, and installations, cautioning agencies against negligence.

Authorities confirmed round‑the‑clock water supply at Jagannath Temple, pilgrim camps, and city locations, supported by standby pumps, power backups, and emergency systems.

Mobile tankers, temporary distribution points, and emergency teams have been deployed, with a 24×7 control room set up for quick response.

Dr Mahapatra reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to providing uninterrupted clean drinking water to devotees and residents during the Rath Yatra.
