Five Children Severely Burned in Ganjam Ganesh Immersion Tragedy

Ganjam, Odisha: A tragic accident during a Ganesh immersion procession in Purushottampur left five children critically injured after a generator mounted on a tractor caught fire.

The blaze reportedly spread when a petrol jar nearby ignited, engulfing the young victims in flames.

The injured children — Itishree Nayak (4), Suhani Nayak (11), Bhumi Nayak (8), Rahari Nayak (7), and Bikash Nayak (5) — all residents of Sitarampur Agraharam Sahi, sustained severe burn injuries.

Initially rushed to Ayushman Arogya Mandir, they were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced treatment.

Local authorities, including the Purushottampur Tehsildar, visited the hospital to oversee medical arrangements.

The incident occurred late Friday night during the festive immersion at Pratapapur, casting a pall of grief over the community.
