Festival Chaos: 20+ Injured in Ganjam Clash

Bhubaneswar/Ganjam: The Thakurani Jatra festivities in Markandi village under Golonthara police limits turned violent late Wednesday night, leaving more than 20 people injured.

The clash erupted when two troupes performing the Mahabharat play became embroiled in a heated argument among youths, which quickly escalated into stone pelting and stick attacks.

Panic spread across the village as residents fled the scene.

Ten of the injured were rushed to MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur with serious wounds.

Police forces intervened to restore order and have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the violence.

Authorities are working to ensure peace in the area as the festival continues, while locals remain shaken by the sudden outbreak of chaos during what was meant to be a cultural celebration.
