Deputy CM Flags Off OPTCL’s Underground Cable Testing System in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo flagged off the Van‑Mounted Cable Fault Locator and Testing System of OPTCL at Kharavel Bhawan.
The initiative, attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Kumar Dev and OPTCL CMD Bhaskar Sarma, marks a significant step in strengthening Odisha’s underground electricity infrastructure.
With 44.2 km of underground EHT cable network already operational in Bhubaneswar and another 26.55 km nearing commissioning, the state is rapidly expanding underground cabling to ensure reliable and safe power supply.
Underground cable faults are notoriously difficult to detect, often delaying restoration.
The newly launched van‑mounted system will drastically reduce fault detection time and improve restoration efficiency, ensuring uninterrupted electricity in Bhubaneswar and other urban regions.
