Cyber Crime Cell to Investigate Fake Promotion Order in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department has issued a strong clarification after a forged promotion order surfaced on social media.

The document, bearing the number PR‑PDO‑ESTT‑0223‑2023‑17409 dated July 3, 2026, was confirmed to be fake and not issued by the government.

Collectors and District Magistrates have been directed to alert subordinate offices and field officials, ensuring the forged order is disregarded.

The department has also instructed the Information & Public Relations Department to issue clarifications to prevent public confusion.

Meanwhile, the matter has been referred to the Home Department.

An FIR has been registered, and the Cyber Crime Cell has been tasked with investigating the source of the fake order and identifying those responsible.

Officials emphasised that such misinformation attempts undermine governance processes and will be dealt with strictly under the law.
