Convict Serving Life Sentence Dies Inside Boudh Jail
Boudh: A life convict lodged at Landibandh jail near Harabhanga in Boudh district died suddenly after collapsing inside the prison premises on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Santosh Mallik (37) of Talapank village, was serving a life sentence for a 2009 murder conviction.
According to officials, Mallik fell unconscious while returning to his ward with food.
He was immediately taken to the jail health centre and given first aid before being shifted to the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital.
Doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Jail superintendent confirmed that all procedures were followed and police were informed.
Boudh police have initiated an investigation, and the body was handed over to family members after the post‑mortem.
Preliminary findings suggest natural causes, though the final autopsy report will confirm the exact reason for death.
