BJD Suspends Jayadev Block Presidents for Misconduct, Forms New Committee
Bhubaneswar, May 28: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended Balipatna Block President Kishore Jena and Balianta Block President Pradipta Jenamani for alleged anti‑party activities.
Both leaders were considered close associates of expelled Jayadev MLA Naba Kishore Mallick, who was removed earlier for defying the party whip during the Rajya Sabha elections.
According to the suspension order, the two block presidents were found guilty of misconduct and activities against party discipline.
Their removal follows repeated complaints from grassroots workers, who had submitted a demand letter to former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging disciplinary action.
Senior party workers welcomed the move, describing it as essential to restore unity and accountability at the local level.
In a parallel organisational reshuffle, the BJD has constituted a seven‑member Constituency Coordination Committee for Jayadev Assembly Constituency.
The committee, comprising Tribikram Dash, Biranchi Narayan Kar, Mangaraj Behera, Baburam Mallick, Bijay Nayak, Sadasiba Dash, and Nigamananda Das, will immediately oversee organisational activities and strengthen coordination in the constituency.
This latest disciplinary action underscores BJD’s firm stance on internal discipline and its efforts to reorganise grassroots leadership in Jayadev.
