BJP MLA Laxman Bag Alleges Political Neglect in Letter to CM Majhi
Bhubaneswar: Laxman Bag, the BJP MLA from Kantabanji who famously defeated Naveen Patnaik in the 2024 Assembly elections, has alleged political neglect by his own party’s government.
In a strongly worded letter to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Bag claimed that his constituency is being deliberately sidelined in development projects, despite its drought‑prone status and urgent needs.
Bag pointed out that proposals for irrigation, roads, bridges, drinking water, and urban development remain unaddressed, while neighbouring constituencies receive priority.
He accused officials of returning sanctioned projects under the EOAN scheme in Turekela block due to political interference, calling it a “conspiracy” against his region.
The MLA expressed concern that villagers are directing anger at him for the lack of progress, even though he has consistently raised demands.
He also noted that he was excluded from the state ministry, warning that such treatment undermines democracy and the dignity of elected representatives.
The Chief Minister’s Office has forwarded Bag’s letter to multiple departments, seeking an “Action Taken Report.” The episode has sparked political ripples, highlighting internal rifts within the BJP’s first term in power in Odisha, as a leader who toppled the long‑standing BJD regime now struggles for influence in his own party.
