Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Launches First Government-Supported Creche in Odisha

Bhubaneswar has taken a significant step toward supporting working parents with the launch of its first government-supported creche.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) inaugurated the facility at Saheed Nagar inside the Integrated Public Service Centre building.

The creche was formally opened by Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, and BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana.

It will operate from Monday to Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., catering to children aged six months to six years.

With a nominal monthly fee of Rs 500, the centre aims to provide affordable childcare while ensuring a nurturing environment for early childhood development.

The facility is equipped with play materials, learning aids, songs, and games to foster mental, educational, and social growth.

Its interiors are decorated with colourful images of animals, birds, and fish, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for young children.

Officials emphasised that the initiative is designed to ease the burden on working parents, offering them peace of mind while their children receive quality care and early education.

The creche marks a milestone in Odisha’s efforts to strengthen family-friendly infrastructure in urban areas.
