Berhampur Police Bust Gambling Den, Over 20 Arrested

Berhampur police raided a high‑stakes gambling den in Rohiga, arresting more than 20 individuals engaged in illegal betting.

The operation revealed that participants were wagering not only cash but also property deeds, with some preparing agreements to sell land if they lost.

During the raid, several gamblers resisted, leading to a scuffle, while others fled the scene. Authorities seized Rs 5.50 lakh in cash, 19 motorcycles, a Hyundai Creta car, and multiple land deeds.

Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M confirmed strict action against those involved and emphasised that gambling away property has become a dangerous trend in Berhampur.

Investigations are underway to apprehend those who escaped.
