Balangir Excise Seizes 12 Quintals of Ganja, Four Arrested

Balangir (July 9, 2026): In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Tusura Excise Department seized over 12 quintals of ganja worth more than Rs 2 crore during a raid on two pickup vans near Balangir.

The contraband, packed in 24 cloth bags, was being transported from Baliguda to Delhi.

The operation, led by Tusura Excise Officer Srikant Panigrahi with support from Titlagarh Excise Inspector and staff, resulted in the arrest of four individuals: Om Prakash (South Delhi), Vishal (Ludhiana), Ramesh (North West Delhi), and Jag Mallick (Baliguda, Kandhamal).

Authorities booked the accused under the NDPS Act and forwarded them to the Balangir court.

Officials highlighted that this seizure is among the largest in recent months, underscoring Odisha’s intensified efforts against illegal drug trafficking.
