Vinaytosh Mishra to hold additional charge as Odisha DGP after Y.B. Khurania’s retirement

Bhubaneswar, August 14, 2026: Following the retirement of incumbent Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force Shri Y.B. Khurania on August 16, 2026, Shri Vinaytosh Mishra, currently serving as DGP, CID (Crime Branch), will continue to hold additional charge of the post of DGP (Head of Police Force) with effect from August 16, 2026, until further orders.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the proposal.

Shri Y.B. Khurania, a 1990-batch IPS officer, is set to demit office on August 16 after completing his tenure as the state’s top police officer.

Shri Vinaytosh Mishra, a senior IPS officer of the 1993 batch who has been heading the CID Crime Branch, will take over the additional responsibility to ensure continuity in the leadership of the Odisha Police.

The arrangement will remain in force until a regular appointment is made to the post of DGP (Head of Police Force).
