Goa, October 8: Veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar, one of the most celebrated performers in Hindi and Marathi cinema, has reportedly passed away at the age of 75 at his residence in Goa.
The actor was found unresponsive and was later taken to a hospital, where doctors were unable to revive him.
The news of his demise was confirmed by his son, Malhar Patekar.
According to reports, a medico-legal case has been registered, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Born as Vishwanath Patekar, popularly known as Nana Patekar, the actor carved a unique place in Indian cinema with his powerful dialogue delivery, intense screen presence, and versatile performances.
Over a career spanning more than four decades, he delivered several memorable films across genres and languages.
He earned critical acclaim for his roles in films such as Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahaar, Ab Tak Chhappan, and Welcome, becoming one of the most respected actors in the industry.
His contributions to cinema were recognised with multiple prestigious honours, including three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, and the Padma Shri in 2013.
Apart from his achievements in film, Nana Patekar was also known for his association with the Indian Armed Forces.
He served in the Territorial Army and was linked with the Maratha Light Infantry during the Kargil War period, later retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2013.
