Udala Ambulance Fire Tragedy: Patient Dies After Oxygen Cylinder Explosion, Two Others Injured

Udala, Odisha: A tragic accident at Udala Medical in Mayurbhanj district claimed the life of a patient after an ambulance caught fire following an alleged oxygen cylinder explosion on the hospital premises.

According to reports, the patient, identified as Suyosh Barik from the Kundabai area under Udala police limits, was being shifted from Udala Medical to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.

The incident occurred while preparations were underway to transport the patient.

Sources said that after the patient was placed inside the ambulance, arrangements were being made to provide oxygen support.

During the process, a fire reportedly broke out near the oxygen cylinder, triggering a powerful explosion.

The blast severely damaged the ambulance, reportedly blowing off its roof and engulfing the vehicle in flames within moments.

Despite desperate efforts by locals and hospital staff to rescue the patient, he could not be saved and died in the fire.

The explosion also caused the ambulance roof to detach and fall onto nearby individuals, leaving two people seriously injured.

The injured were rushed for medical treatment.

Fire service personnel arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and managed to bring the blaze under control.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the explosion.

The shocking incident has raised concerns over safety protocols in medical transport vehicles and oxygen handling systems.

The tragedy has left residents of the area stunned and grieving.
