Sonepur Police Bust Fake Journalist, Seize Drugs and Cash
Sonepur police raided the residence of Shashank Mishra in Patabhadi, uncovering a major haul of narcotics and cash. Mishra, who falsely posed as a journalist, was found with 164 bottles of Winirex cough syrup, 2.8 kg of ganja, Rs 5.5 lakh in cash, and a branded air pistol.
Investigators also seized online payment scanners and a weighing machine.
Authorities revealed that Mishra misused press stickers, a boom microphone, and an ID card labelled “Suchana Media” to shield his illegal activities.
The raid was supervised by Superintendent of Police Narayan Nayak and Additional SP K.K. Hariprasad, with a magistrate present to verify the seized materials.
Police confirmed the pistol, though an air weapon, was manufactured by a reputed company and could pose a threat.
Investigations are underway to trace Mishra’s wider network and financial irregularities linked to the narcotics trade.
