Panchkula, May 27 (UNI) Seven members of a family were found dead in a car in Haryana’s Panchkula, police said on Tuesday, adding suicide was strongly suspected.
Police said that Praveen Mittal (42) along with wife, three children and parents had come to Panchkula from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to attend a five-day ‘Hanumant Katha’.
“The seven appear to have died by suicide after consuming some poisonous substance,” said a police officer.
Police sources said late Monday night they were informed that seven people, including a couple along with three children and two elders, were found in a car parked in Panchkula’s Sector 27. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead.
Police said the initial investigation suggests that the reason behind the incident was financial crises and debt. However, the matter was under investigation. A police team is likely to go to Dehradun and speak to the relatives of the family, said a police officer.
