Senior Clerk at Baripada Municipal Council Caught Accepting ₹10,000 Bribe in Vigilance Raid
Baripada, – May 23, ( OT Webdesk)In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Odisha Vigilance Department arrested Gopal Krushna Pradhan, a senior clerk at the Establishment Section of the Baripada Municipal Council, for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe.
The complainant, Md. Javeer had been facing delays for two years in transferring ownership of two municipal shops inherited from his late father, despite submitting all required documents.
n frustration, he approached Vigilance officials and lodged a formal complaint, alleging deliberate obstruction unless a bribe was paid.
Acting swiftly, the Baripada Vigilance Unit set a trap and caught Pradhan red-handed while accepting the bribe. The entire amount was seized, and officials have begun searching his office and residence for additional evidence related to the case.
Vigilance In-Charge Bikash Swain confirmed the arrest, emphasising the department’s commitment to uprooting corruption and ensuring transparency in municipal governance.
This incident underscores the ongoing fight against bribery in local government offices.
Further investigations are underway, with authorities determined to enforce strict action against dishonest practices in public administration.
