Rare Pangolin Rescued in Nuapada Forest | Odisha Wildlife Conservation

Nuapada district witnessed a remarkable wildlife rescue when a rare pangolin was spotted near Phakhanakata pond in Baludunguri village.

Local youths immediately informed the Khariar Forest Department, prompting swift action by forest guards.

With the cooperation of villagers, the pangolin—estimated to weigh 3.3 kg—was safely rescued without injury.

It was examined at Khariar Veterinary Hospital, where veterinarians confirmed its good health.

Later, the animal was released back into its natural forest habitat to ensure survival.

Divisional Forest Officer Aziz Khan praised the villagers’ awareness and quick response, stressing the importance of community participation in protecting endangered species.
