PM Modi Unveils Solar Village Plan in Mayurbhanj
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his one‑day visit to Odisha, announced a landmark initiative to transform Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj into a model Solar Village under the Surya Ghar scheme.
The announcement came as he extended warm birthday greetings to President Droupadi Murmu, hailing her journey from Mayurbhanj to the presidency as a source of pride for Odisha.
Under the initiative, every household in Pahadpur will receive free solar electricity, while surplus power will generate income for villagers.
Modi emphasised that the project will make Pahadpur a model of sustainable development, drawing parallels with Odisha’s iconic Sun Temple at Konark.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by President Murmu, offered prayers at Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera sacred groves, and visited the SLS Memorial School and skill centre established by Murmu.
He noted that Murmu’s presence inspires confidence among tribal and underprivileged children, while she highlighted that his visit reflects his affection for Odisha and commitment to tribal welfare.
