PCR Team Nabs Truck Driver After Bhubaneswar Hit‑and‑Drag

Bhubaneswar, May 30: In a dramatic midnight chase, a PCR‑6 team in Bhubaneswar apprehended a truck driver involved in a hit-and-run incident near Gangua Nala bridge under Mancheswar Police Station.

The driver, identified as Jagamohan Bhukta of Boudh district, fled the scene after colliding with a car, dragging it along the road in panic.

The PCR team—Constable Kongress Nahak, OAPF personnel Pradeep Kanhar, and Home Guard Anil Sahu—devised a tactical plan to avoid direct confrontation with the speeding truck.

By coordinating with another Hyva vehicle, they created artificial congestion near Mother’s Public School under Pahal Police Station limits, forcing the truck to halt.

The driver was immediately apprehended, and the vehicle was seized. Breath analyser tests confirmed he was not under the influence.

Fortunately, the car occupants escaped without major injuries.

Police have registered an FIR, and the accused will be arrested and forwarded to court.

Officials praised the PCR team’s bravery and quick judgment, noting their professional handling prevented further danger and ensured public safety.
