Patha Utsav 2026 Begins with Colourful Festivities in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar witnessed a vibrant Sunday morning on January 4 as the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched the 2026 edition of Patha Utsav at Master Canteen Square.

The stretch of Janpath, from Master Canteen Square to Shree Ram Mandir Square, was transformed into a car-free cultural zone, allowing families to walk freely and soak in the festive atmosphere.

The inauguration featured a spectacular balloon release and confetti cannons, setting the tone for a day filled with dance, music, and cultural showcases.

Traditional Odisha art forms blended seamlessly with modern activities such as Zumba and group dances, drawing enthusiastic participation from residents.

Children enjoyed a specially curated “Kido Land,” designed to make the festival more family-friendly. Patha Utsav has grown into a cherished tradition in Bhubaneswar, celebrated every Sunday as streets turn into hubs of art, music, and community bonding.

The BMC announced upcoming editions on January 18 at New Jagamara Road and February 1 at Sikharchandi Road in North Bhubaneswar.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, Commissioner Chanchal Rana, and other officials graced the occasion, appealing to citizens to participate in large numbers and strengthen the spirit of community.
