OMFED Raises Milk Prices by ₹4 per Litre Across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 3: The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced a Rs 4 per litre hike in milk prices across the state, effective immediately.

Under the revised rates, toned milk will now cost Rs 54 per litre, premium milk Rs 58, gold premium milk Rs 60, and gold premium plus Rs 64. Half-litre packets have also been increased to Rs 29 from Rs 27.

OMFED stated that the decision was taken to offset rising input costs, including cattle feed, fodder, veterinary medicines, and maintenance expenses.

The federation emphasised that the hike is aimed at sustaining production while ensuring fair returns to farmers.

On May 1, procurement rates for dairy farmers were raised from Rs 38.05 to Rs 39.05 per litre, directly benefiting nearly three lakh farmers across Odisha.

Officials noted that the revision balances farmer welfare with supply challenges, though consumers will face higher household expenses.
