Odisha Vigilance Secures Conviction of TPSODL Lineman in Bribery Case
Phulbani, Kandhamal: In a significant anti‑corruption verdict, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani has sentenced former TPSODL Grade‑A Lineman Kalu Charan Palleyi to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000.
Palleyi was charge‑sheeted in November 2022 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, after Odisha Vigilance caught him demanding and accepting a Rs 5,000 bribe from a shopkeeper for a new electricity connection.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance confirmed it will initiate proceedings to dismiss Palleyi from service.
Officials emphasised that the judgment sends a strong message against corruption in public utilities, reinforcing accountability in the power sector.
