Odisha Vigilance Nabs Junior Engineer and Associate Taking ₹20,000 Bribe
In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended Pradesh Prasad Nayak, Junior Engineer at TPSODL Malkangiri, along with his associate Bhanjakishor Swain, while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a local bricks factory owner.
The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for providing an electricity connection.
The Vigilance team caught the duo red‑handed near the main gate of the office and recovered the entire bribe amount from their possession.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Nayak to investigate possible Disproportionate Assets (DA).
A case has been registered at the Koraput Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 01/2026) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is in progress to uncover the extent of corruption and identify any additional links.
This incident underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to curb graft and ensure transparency in public service delivery.
