Odisha Vigilance Arrests Badachana AE in Bribery Trap
Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday apprehended Bandita Dash, Assistant Engineer of Badachana Block in Jajpur district, along with her associate Somonath Sethy, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹35,000.
According to reports, the bribe was demanded to release a security deposit and clear pending bills for a school construction project.
Acting on a complaint of harassment, Vigilance laid a trap and caught both accused red‑handed.
The tainted amount was seized immediately.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at three locations linked to Dash to verify disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered at Kataka Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
This incident highlights a recurring pattern where officials allegedly delay legitimate payments for public works unless bribes are paid.
The investigation against both accused is ongoing, with further details awaited from the Directorate.
