Odisha Vigilance Arrests ASI, Associate in ₹20,000 Bribe Case

Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended Assistant Sub‑Inspector (ASI) Madan Mohan Pradhan of Lahunipada Police Station, Sundargarh district, along with his associate Mandeep Kumar Dasmodak, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an eatery owner.

According to the complaint, ASI Pradhan threatened to arrest the complainant and his younger brother in connection with an excise case unless the bribe was paid.

Acting swiftly, Vigilance laid a trap and caught both accused red‑handed while accepting the money.

The bribe amount was seized on the spot.

Following the arrest, Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at three locations linked to ASI Pradhan to investigate possible disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered at Rourkela Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

The investigation against both accused is currently underway.
