Odisha to Roll Out Paperless, Cashless Land Registration System
Odisha is set to revolutionise property transactions by introducing a fully paperless and cashless land registration system across the state.
The initiative, announced by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, aims to enhance transparency, reduce delays, and curb corruption in land dealings.
Under the new system, buyers and sellers will submit applications online, uploading identity proofs, encumbrance certificates, and land details digitally.
Physical presence will only be required for identity verification and deed execution.
Cash payments, previously allowed up to Rs 15,000, will be discontinued. All fees must be paid through digital channels.
Additionally, deed writers, advocates, and stamp vendors must be registered with the Revenue Department to prepare and submit documents.
Officials confirmed that documents can be verified digitally by any registration office in Odisha, ensuring faster processing.
A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will soon be issued to guide smooth implementation.
This move is expected to streamline property transactions, improve ease of doing business, and strengthen public trust in the registration process.
