Odisha to Host 84th Indian Roads Congress After a Decade
Odisha is set to welcome the 84th edition of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, from November 6 to 10, 2025.
This marks a significant return for the state, which last hosted the prestigious event in 2015.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, will inaugurate the five-day congress, which will bring together over 3,500 delegates, including engineers, scientists, academicians, and policymakers from across India.
The event will focus on innovation, technology, and policy in road construction and maintenance, aiming to accelerate India’s journey toward sustainable transport infrastructure.
A technical exhibition will kick off on November 6, showcasing cutting-edge materials and engineering techniques.
Key meetings scheduled during the congress include the 235th and 236th Council Meetings, the 85th Highway Research Board Meeting, and the 84th Business Meeting.
These sessions will delve into investment strategies, policy frameworks, and long-term planning for India’s road network.
To celebrate Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture will host traditional music, dance, and art performances for the delegates.
The Congress is expected to strengthen collaboration between government bodies, private enterprises, and academic institutions in shaping the future of India’s transport landscape.
