Odisha Revenue Dept Tightens Land Lease Record Rules

The Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Department has issued strict instructions to ensure proper maintenance and timely production of land lease records in court cases.

The directive, following a recent High Court order, was communicated by Additional Chief Secretary Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee.

Officials have been warned that lapses in record‑keeping will be treated seriously, as they directly affect citizens’ rights and public trust.

District Collectors have been tasked with personally monitoring the safety of records during inspections and ensuring subordinate offices comply within fixed timeframes.

The department emphasised transparency, accountability, and time‑bound action, adopting a zero‑tolerance stance against carelessness.

This move reinforces the government’s commitment to a transparent and well‑organized revenue administration in Odisha.
