Odisha Reschedules Eid-ul-Zuha Holiday to May 28, 2026
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has officially rescheduled the Eid-ul-Zuha holiday from Wednesday, May 27, 2026, to Thursday, May 28, 2026.
According to the revised notification, all government offices and Magisterial (Executive) Courts across the state will remain closed on May 28, while May 27 will now be treated as a regular working day.
The decision was taken in line with the crescent moon sighting, ensuring that the festival aligns with the correct Islamic calendar date.
This update supersedes the earlier holiday list issued in November 2025.
By adjusting the holiday, Odisha joins other states in maintaining accuracy in religious observance and providing clarity for citizens and institutions ahead of the festival.
